| Um...WTF? |
[20 Nov 2008|10:15pm] |
credit bloody-disgusting.com:
As I sit here still cringing over the idea of Steve Spielberg and Will Smith commercializing the incredible Oldboy, Smith is already running around Hollywood looking for someone to pen the remake. According to THR, Mark Protosevich - who wrote the first draft of I AM LEGEND - is in talks to write the film where a man gets kidnapped and held in a shabby cell for 15 years without explanation. Suddenly, he's released and given money, a cell phone and clothes and is set on a path to discover who destroyed his life so he can take revenge. Has anyone else accepted this news yet? I'm still trying to force it down.
Why? Just why?

| halloween: 30th anniverary box set |
[20 Nov 2008|04:21am] |
For those who have or know alot about the Halloween 30th anniversary box set: Are Halloween 4 and H5 the special DiviMax versions, or bare-bones versions? And is 25 years of terror with the included comic book that came with the separate DVD? Also, is each DVD in it's own case, or do they come "naked" in the big box set? Thanks in advance. The answers will help me determine if I should buy the set or not.

We're already midway through November...what has been the horror movie(s) of the year for you? I personally think this was a great year for horror movies. My favorites, in no particular order, have been:
Inside [REC] The Ruins (I actually loved this movie!) Let The Right One In Otis Cloverfield The Signal (the first two parts, anyway)
I'm obviously missing many, but [REC], Inside and Let The Right One In have been some of the best pieces of horror that I've seen in years, so having these three unbelievable flicks come out in the same year is incredible.
-----------------
Speaking of Let The Right One In, has anyone watched it yet?
It's a Swedish vampire film that deals with issues of isolation and loneliness. The movie blew me away. It was visually stunning, well acted, well directed and had just the right amount of gore. I could not recommend this film enough: go watch this movie! The last ten minutes of the movie were fantastic, too. Great payoff to a great film.

| Repo! The Genetic Opera |
[16 Nov 2008|06:22pm] |
Hey, guys! Last night, I attended the Atlanta stop on the Road Tour of Repo! The Genetic Opera. You've probably heard what a big impact the fans are having on it and its release - and it's no lie. :)
Anyway, I've written at my LJ a full recap of the trip as well as a review of the film - so take a peek if you're interested. It was an incredibly good time, and a very unique, kickass film indeed.

| Unofficial Repo! The Genetic Opera Singalong in L.A. TONIGHT! |
[15 Nov 2008|12:55pm] |
|
Come one, come all to the Repo! The Genetic Opera "Sunset Singalong" tonight at the SUNSET 5 at 7:30pm.
I'll be hanging around in the lobby wearing this shirt, so just come up and introduce yourself.
Also a caveat: This is a trial run and if we're asked to stop singing or we're being too loud, we will respect this and either lip synch or just be quieter and enjoy the movie. This isn't an "official" singalong, so if we're not in the majority, we might be annoying. ;)
Hope to see you there!

I may be looking for a maintainer for this community. I can't keep up with the requests. Tell me why you would be great for the position.
Also, should I change the age so everyone could join or leave it 18+?

| FEAST 2: SLOPPY SECONDS |
[10 Nov 2008|05:28pm] |
So, I'm all for good plots and good writing in my horror movies. But every once in a while, I just want to see people die. IN the grossest and most horrible ways possible. I used to say that Saw was good for this sort of thing. And then I saw Feast. And then I saw Feast 2: Sloppy Seconds. I THINK I'M IN LOVE! The first one was hilarious, and people died almost every few minutes. Not to mention weird monsters skullfucking people. The gore was awesome, top notch in my book. And the monsters were cool as hell! I was very worried that the second one would not live up to the first, as many sequals don't. I was most definitely not disappointed. With a larger body count, much more naked-ness, and even more ridiculous shit than the last one, I was quite pleased. I am, for one, a huge fan of mindless violence at times. Not to mention flying luchador midgets. While the first one had much more in the way of clever writing, this movie was definitely a winner in my book. I would explain more, only I hate being a spoiler. I recommend you see it if you are a fan of gore and things that are just plain wrong.

| Horror Zine |
[09 Nov 2008|06:51pm] |
Hi kids,
I'm in the middle of making a horror zine, "Midnight Society" and I wondered if anybody would be interested in it and what kind of thing you'd like to see in it. It'll include short stories, film and book reviews, stuff about UFOs, urban legends, ghosts, serial killers, all that kind of think.
I'd appreciate any input whatsoever, also if anybody has anything at all they'd like to contribute, that would rock.
